SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- May 23, 2006 -- Verari Systems™, the premier developer of powerful, platform-independent blade computing systems, announced today that it will introduce four new server platforms based on the new Dual-Core Intel® Xeon™ processor 5000 featuring 4MB cache per processor, 64GB FBDIMM memory capacity, Intel® Virtualization Technology, Intel® Active Server Management, Intel® I/O Acceleration Technology and up to dual 1333MHz System Bus. Verari Systems' flexible and scalable platform-independent architecture ensures seamless incorporation of the latest in next generation high performance technology into the latest rackmount and blade server form factors.
"Verari Systems’ new line of Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® 5000 processor-based servers supporting the Intel® 5000P chipset is ideal for customers seeking great dual-core performance and value,” said Dave Driggers, CEO of Verari Systems. "The current pricing model gives our customers price/performance gains relative to what they are buying today, at up to 2x the performance over prior generations. We are proud to be a market leader providing servers based on Intel’s new architecture and look forward to working together to develop new unique capabilities and value to enterprise data centers worldwide."
In addition, Verari Systems has partnered with Intel to present performance numbers on the Intel Performance Website based on the Linpack Benchmark. This Benchmark is a measure of a computer’s floating-point rate of execution and is determined by running a computer program that solves a dense system of linear equations. The results, which can be found on http://www.intelstartyourengines.com, have Linpack charts that compare current Intel Xeon single core processors, Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5000 and 5100 series processors and other competing solutions side-by-side. The results illustrate an impressive peak performance of 34.9 Gflops per node on the best performing Intel chip.
Verari Systems achieved this performance measurement with their RM1220 featuring an Intel preproduction customer reference board with two Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5160, 3.00 GHz with 4MB L2 Cache, dual 1333 MHz system bus, 8GB (8x1GB) 667MHz FB-DIMM memory; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 - Update 2, EM64T and Intel® Linpack 3.0.1.
