SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- July 6, 2004 -- Verari Systems, the premier developer of powerful, platform-independent blade computing systems, announced today that it has entered into an OEM agreement with Engenio Information Technologies, formerly LSI Logic Storage Systems. Under the deal, Verari Systems will co-brand and sell Engenio's complete line of Fibre Channel and Serial ATA (SATA) storage subsystems.
Verari Systems now offers the complete range of Engenio-based products, including the top of the line VS 5884FC Fibre Channel storage system, the mid-range VS 2882S SATA storage system and the newly introduced VS 2822S entry-level scalable SATA storage array. The VS 5884FC Fibre Channel storage system features patented multipathing architecture and advanced cache management, which deliver industry-leading performance with exceptional high-availability and data protection capabilities, including full RAID protection, and full redundancy of all active components. The VS 2882S SATA storage system is specifically designed to meet the workload, capacity and cost requirements of near line, secondary storage. The new VS 2822S storage system offers an affordable entry point without sacrificing scalability and functionality by integrating 2 Gb/s Fibre Channel connectivity, low-cost serial ATA (SATA) disk drives and powerful storage management software.
“We are excited about our partnership with a leading independent blade server systems provider,” said Dave Mooney, Engenio General Manager of Worldwide OEMs. “Both Engenio and Verari Systems are committed to providing solutions with higher performance, excellent reliability and lowest possible total cost of ownership needed for the most demanding data and compute intensive applications.”
“Since Engenio is an acknowledged leader in enterprise class modular storage, this agreement will further enable Verari Systems to deliver on its mission to provide complete, high performance systems for the world’s leading corporations and research institutions,” said Verari Systems CEO David Driggers. “Engenio’s modular SATA and Fibre Channel storage technologies are ideally suited for our customers' needs where high performance, lower cost of ownership, scalability, manageability and availability are critical.”
Verari Systems blade systems run the most demanding parallel applications in many markets, including oil and gas, entertainment, electronic design automation, automotive and aerospace. Ranked by IDC as the fifth largest x86 server manufacturer in the United States, Verari Systems has pioneered innovative thermal management technologies to package the world’s fastest standards-based processors in the densest blade server form factor possible.
Verari Systems' intelligent blade management software and tools enable customers to accelerate deployment, provisioning, and remote monitoring in order to seamlessly cluster thousands of blade systems. The software orchestrates management to maximize utilization and thereby lowers customers' technology acquisition, datacenter, administrative, and operational costs.
